Here is the continuation of the work I have been doing on my clue project lately.....  The Windows and the railing of the whole house were very plain and not the look I want to be going for.  I was thinking about trying to rip it all off.... BUT.....  that would be a lot of work and maybe a lot of needless destruction.

So I decided to use puff paint to jazz up the window sills, columns and banisters.  It was a lot of work too but relatively low cost and very much like icing a cake!  It was fun until my hand started getting tired!

Now I am slowly making my way around the house painting all the white areas with puff paint and then over with brown to make it look like carved wood.

I know the brown makes the whole house look darker but I plan to paint the siding a lighter color so I think it will look nice in the end.  It is a slow process but I am happy so far!

This is my first project that was previously built and its kind of fun figuring out ways to make it change into how I want it to look!  Hugs to all, Ara

  3. What an ingenious idea, Ara! All of my dollhouses have been previously built and needed a little work. It can be challenging figuring out what to do with some dollhouse problems. You really came up with a creative solution here. xo Jennifer

  4. Clever idea with the Puff Paint, Ara. Will you have to seal it with anything? xxx

  5. Thanks Jennifer!

Debbie, The brown Acrylic paint that I am putting over the puff paint will work as a sealant. It would get pretty hard and protect it from damage. hugs, ara

  6. Ara, I really love the colour combo! The brown is the right touch and lend a nice rustic touch to the building. This blue is unusual is unlike most other blue, makes the house look warm and cosy. Really love it!

Puff paint? I am curious. Never heard of it..

  8. Thank you Sans and Jeffrey!

My best description of Puff Paint: I remember it being really big in the 90's... people would use it on t-shirts and the paint would stay puffy after it dried. I am using paint I still have from way back (amazed they are still working!)... but if you were to look for it I would look in the fabric paint area. I know crayola brand at one point had their own line of puff paint. If I need to go buy some more I will update where I find it here on my blog! Thanks for the comments! hugs, ara
